DroneBase Pilot Spotlight: Brian in Phoenix

Written by DroneBase | Dec 1, 2016 3:55:30 PM

We recently launched our new Pilot Dashboard and App to continue our mission of connecting Drone Pilots to great opportunities. In our first Pilot Spotlight, we highlighted one of our best pilots in Florida. Today, we're putting the spotlight on Brian - a very talented drone pilot who has been with DroneBase since the beginning. Brian is based in Phoenix, Arizona and has done work across the country and even Mexico, Canada, Columbia Costa Rica, and India!

DroneBase: Are you a full-time Drone Pilot?

Brian: Yes, both Mark & myself are full time Drone pilots for many industries.

DroneBase: What drone do you primarily fly with?

Brian: Sensefly Ebee, DJI Product Line, Many custom drone solutions and tools, Professional Drone Pilots of most SUAS platforms out.

DroneBase: What are your favorite things to shoot?

Brian: Remote Jungle Beaches as the sun is going down over Costa-Rica while howler monkeys hangout in the trees and parrots fly in front of your drone as if you are not there.

DroneBase: What is your favorite aspect about being a drone pilot?

Brian: The office changes every day, you never know what the next adventure will bring or the super interesting people that will change your life forever in the most profound ways.

DroneBase: What was your best piloting experience?

Brian: Flying for our company in Mexico during a sea turtle release & rescue fundraiser in Acapulco Mexico on the beach, chasing scuba boats, filming the sun go down. Very rewarding to bring awareness, technology, training, and drones into the solution of saving sea-life with our Mexican partners.

DroneBase: What about your worst piloting experience, if any?

Brian: I crashed a very expensive hand built drone that was a birthday gift from my business partner to me into a brick wall in a what will remain an unnamed sports stadium. YEARS ago before you could buy anything like this we hand built these things and I was a newer pilot and the nickname (homelock) was formed for a while..... the homelock function forced myself and friend Dustin to dive out of harms way thus smashing said beautiful birthday gift into a million carbon fiber pieces along with my confidence.

DroneBase: Describe your “dream drone”

Brian: One that the FAA doesn't regulate...

DroneBase: Anything else you’d like to share?

Brian: "Brian is engaged in critical state level UAS advocacy in Arizona. His work to inform legislators and debunk media hysteria on commercial drones could not come at a more important time." -Jeffrey Antonelli Owner, Antonelli Law Ltd.
