North American Solar Scan Is Underway

We are officially underway on Zeitview’s Solar Scan: a groundbreaking offering that will see us scan and analyze over 100 Gigawatts (!) of USA solar this spring then again this fall. This 100GW represents every solar site above 1MW in the United States.

The goal of Solar Scan is twofold:

First, Solar Scan enables solar inspections at the click of a button: instant, accurate, and zero-coordination solar performance results given as a high-level, 3-letter quality score, or, as a comprehensive report with dollar-loss traced back to the panel.

With our high-level, 3-letter quality score, our favorite thing to tell an owner is: you don’t have a problem at this site and you can focus your time, money and attention elsewhere. For too long, our industry has been offering an MRI (expensive, ultra-detailed, overly invasive) at every annual physical. We believe fast, affordable, and easy is a better way for that first scan, with a comprehensive report available if you do have a problem site where you need a deeper drill-down.

Second, Solar Scan unlocks a level of performance data that is comprehensive (every US site above 1MW), unprecedented (no one has ever done this before), and comparative. With Solar Scan data, we hope to finally be able to give an objective, independent perspective on solar asset performance across regions, components, owners, operators, etc. As we complete the fall run later this year, we will thread in change data to show how a site is improving (or declining).

Zeitview is committed to working at the scale of the solar industry and our analytics keeping pace with solar’s runaway growth in the coming years. We believe that faster, more accurate, lower-cost inspections as well as industry-wide comparative analytics are further signals of solar’s maturity as an asset class.

Finally, we appreciate Solar Scan is a big, bold bet that combines bleeding-edge AI, data processing, and operational challenges. The Zeitview team embraces solving hard problems because we see the ambitions of our customers in renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure and we know: their problems are harder. We are so excited to deliver Solar Scan in North America this spring and fall.
